Which ingredients will I need for the Diploma in Organic Skincare Formulation?

In our courses, students learn how to formulate, and not to follow recipes. For this reason, we do not supply ingredients lists in our courses, apart from our foundation course, the Diploma in Organic Skincare Formulation.  At Formula Botanica, students can choose what ingredients they would like to work with and can create their own formulations according to their preferences. However, we do understand that buying ingredients is a financial commitment and that sometimes, a prospective student needs to prepare for the costs of the ingredients, therefore, we are providing a Starter Shopping List as a suggestion, so you can have an idea of the kind of materials needed and that you can look around to see where they are available and how much they cost.

Ingredients:

BUTTERS: Shea butter, Cocoa butter, Mango butter.

OILS: Olive oil, Coconut oil, Sunflower oil, Jojoba oil, Almond oil.

HYDROSOLS: Rose hydrosol, Chamomile hydrosol, Orange blossom hydrosol, Lavender hydrosol.

EXFOLIANTS: Ground apricot, Brown sugar - (Rapadura sugar)

EMULSIFIERS: Lecithin - liquid, Olivem1000

PRESERVATIVES: Preservative ECO* or Geogard ECT* or PlantaservM*

SURFACTANTS: Coco-glucoside (surfactant), Yucca extract (optional), SCS (Sodium Coco Sulfate) and SCI (Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate).

ESSENTIAL OILS: Lavender essential oil, Sweet orange essential oil, Frankincense essential oil, Roman Chamomile essential oil

HERBS: Dried lavender, Dried calendula

GUMS: Xanthan gum

CLAYS: White clay, Rhassoul clay

SOLUBILIZER: Symbiosolv XC

HUMECTANT: Glycerine

ANTIOXIDANT: Vitamin E

DISINFECTANTS: 70% isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol) or Vodka

pH MODIFIERS: Citric acid and Bicarbonate of soda
